Fine Peduncle

Fine Peduncle is the brainchild of Knoxville’s carnal Cole Murphy and part of the Dracula Horse family. He’s got a staple style but touches on a handful of different genres alongside a variety of lustful lyrics. Check out his track “Obtect Pupa” below and go to his bandcamp to download the entire album (of the same name.)

BeachesBeaches

I only know two things about BeachesBeaches; He’s from Bellingham, Washington and he makes really, really, really good sample-based music. An amazingly solid self-titled EP release and a fleshy selection of single tracks later and he still isn’t getting much notice. Enjoy the sample and be sure to check out the rest of his stuff.

HAPPY TRENDY & KUMON PLAZA

Happy Trendy/Kumon Plaza is Dylan Khotin-Foote, an almost-18-year-old producer from Edmonton. He’s Europe-bound sometime near December and he’s already got another album in the works. He creates under the moniker of Happy Trendy with a somewhat somber tone with unassured and distant vocals. Kumon Plaza is a less personal and more synth-driven project with a slight 8-bit influence. Dylan is generous enough to give away all of his music for free. Expect an album within the upcoming months (or quite possibly in early 2012) and you can go ahead and create your “Dylan Khotin-Foote Discography” folder and download all of these goodies. Enjoy.

VEKTROID

VEKTROID is property of the eccentric Ramona ’Vektroid’. She manages to blend up several different genres and oozes out what I can, due to a lack of a more accurate description, describe as something closely akin to the whole ‘chillwave’ genre, if not actually fitting somewhere inside the boundaries of the very loose definition of the genre. In no way is this a bad thing. VEKTROID’s recently-released LP, NEO CALI, is nothing short of amazing and one of my favorite albums released within the past few months. It’s available for download via bandcamp for 5.99 USD and is worth every cent.

NYKDLN

NYKDLN is someone I’ve only recently found out about and hearing his music made me feel embarrassingly naive. When I first listened to In My Childhood I fell in love instantly. It does specifically what it’s set out to do; make you feel like a kid again. Most of the feeling comes from being confusingly nostalgic, daunting, and even warm at times. I’m still unsure if the LP is somewhat of a remix of pre-existing tracks from a decade ago or if the man behind NYKDLN is just a fucking genius and perfected being able to craft sounds to make us feel puerile. Get lost.
